Immingham UK February 8-13, 2009

I left for Immingham, UK via NWA on February 8, 2009 at approx 1:15pm. I flew through Detroit, MI and then on to Amsterdam where I transferred to a little plane headed to Humberside, UK. Apparently there was some bad weather earlier that morning so they were having problems clearing the runway. We circled the airport for an hour while they tried to clear the ice. Granted the entire flight was only a 50 minute flight. They finally redirected us to another airport in Leeds which is about an 1.5hr drive to Immingham. We rented a car and were on our way through 30 roundabouts to get to the highway. By this time it had been almost 24 hrs KC time. Arrived at the jobsite about 12:30pm. The time difference is 6 hours from CST. I am car pooling with Jennifer who has been over here for about 6 weeks and has been extended through March. We are staying in a little town about 30-45 min outside of Immingham called Scotter. The White Swann Inn is the place and it is a bit different than the serviced apt in Bgk. No fridge, minimal heat and shower is a little tricky getting warm water (it has been either scolding hot or freezing cold). There is a fridge at the jobsite so I will keep groceries either in the car or on the window sill to keep them cold. Not sure what to do for dinner, I have been used to cooking and then taking leftovers to work. There is a restaurant at the Inn but not sure I want to eat there every night. I did have fish and chips my first night.

2-11 Last night for dinner Jennifer and I ate at the Dolphin in Messingham. It was a nice to sit down and enjoy a meal.

2-12 It started snowing huge snowflakes and then turned to rain. I will update with pictures tonight.
