Liverpool, May 15-17, 2009

Went to Liverpool for the weekend. Was warned against it as there are "scousers" about. Had a good time- stayed down near Albert Docks, part of Liverpool's revitalization. Did some shopping and went on the Magical Mystery Tour to visit birthplaces and homes of the Beatles. Went to Liverpool's Chinatown which didn't have too much.
The Superlambanana's were my favorite- similar to the cows we had in KC.

Bath, May 12-13, 2009

I visited Bath- which is home to the Roman Baths in the UK with the only natural occuring hot springs. It was nice to walk around and see where the Romans used to come. Had gelato twice.

Bristol, May 9, 2009

Updated to Bristol- for some reason I was confused on going to Birmingham?
This was my least favorite city to try and find their historical tributes. The whole goal of going through Birmingham was to find the Clifton Suspension Bridge which is not well known and hard to find. I had to follow a local guy at a gas station that took us through many turns and hills until it was finally found.

Stratford Upon Avon, May 8-9, 2009

I traveled to Stratford Upon Avon- Shakespeare's birthplace. It was a nice village to walk around and shop and see some country architecture. Part of the tourist destination is all places associated with Shakespeare: including his birthplace; Nash's House (museum next door to his final place of residence); Hall's Croft (owned by his daughter and her husband Dr. John Hall); Ann Hathaway's cottage (his wife) I even snuck a picture of the bench where Anne and William courted; and the Holy Trinity Church where is buried along with his family. All these places had beautiful gardens. On the way back from the Church we found some tea cups that said "If you find me- keep me and have a lovely day"- neat idea to brighten up someone's day.

Also found some antique stores and found unique items for purchase. Walked along the river and found a wish tree with different wishes tied on the limbs. The Royal Shakespeare Theatre has scaffolding all the way around as it is undergoing renovations.
